Jason Powers
Jason currently serves as a lieutenant with a local law enforcement agency where he has over 24 years of service. During his career Jason has served in Patrol, Community Policing, Internal Affairs, and the SWAT Team. He has also served as the Lead Active Shooter Instructor for his agency where he instructed police recruits and agency members on response to active shooter events. In addition to his active shooter instructor status he has also instructed TASER usage, chemical munition deployment, community policing, internal affairs topics, and has presented at several different community meetings on crime prevention topics.
He has certifications as an active shooter instructor, as well as a certification in civilian response to active shooter incidents. Jason has attended after-action presentations by those who have been directly involved in active shooter events. He has also reviewed several after-action reports on active shooter incidents throughout the United States that covered lessons learned and best practices to utilize during these incidents. He has attended N. C. State’s Administrative Officer’s Management Program. Jason also attended several leadership trainings to include Incident Command System training on how to manage large scale incidents. Jason has managed several incidents in his jurisdiction to include: hostage barricades, single barricades, missing persons and pre-planned warrant services.
Jason has instructed business employees and civilian groups on how to respond to active shooter incidents. He has also conducted several threat assessments on government and non-governmental buildings to assist in mitigating threats at these locations.
